Why don't you require a reference when I fund my transfer?

Your Atlantic Money account details are unique to your account. We use your account details to track your transfers, which means that we don't need a reference.

Plus, there is a key difference between personal and business transfers that’s worth pointing out:

For personal transfers, we've designed a simple and secure system that allows only one active transfer per account at any time. This makes the process easier and greatly minimizes the chances of any errors.

In contrast, businesses typically have more complex financial needs. That’s why we allow multiple active transfers per account.

We can identify and assign each payment to its corresponding transfer, even if there are several transfers of the same amount. In these cases, we make sure to prioritize transfers chronologically, so funds are allocated from the oldest transfer to the most recent.

While it’s not mandatory, you’re more than welcome to use the reference field if it helps simplify things for you! You can use this field for whatever you need, whether it's for tracking your transfers or adding additional details.

Just a quick note: when adding a reference to your transfer, most currencies have a character limit of 16 characters, but for USD, it's a bit shorter at 10 characters.
